Job Details

  • Shifts: (3) 12HR Nights
  • Work Location: Onsite; Palo Alto, CA

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Continuously monitor vital signs and observe patients for any changes in their condition. React promptly to any deterioration and coordinate interventions.
  • Administer life-saving treatments and interventions, such as CPR, wound care, and administration of emergency medications.
  • Coordination with Multidisciplinary Team: Collaborate with physicians, surgeons, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
  • Advocate for the needs of patients and ensure that they receive appropriate care and support. Communicate effectively with patients and their families, providing information and addressing concerns.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and responses. This is crucial for continuity of care and legal purposes.
  • Operate and maintain specialized equipment used in the ED, such as cardiac monitors, defibrillators, and ventilators.
  • Adhere to strict infection control protocols to prevent the spread of infections within the ED.
  • Administer medications, including emergency drugs, and ensure accurate dosage and timing. Monitor patients for potential side effects.
  • Provide trauma care for patients involved in accidents or experiencing severe injuries. This may involve stabilizing fractures, controlling bleeding, and preparing patients for surgery.
  • Participate in disaster drills and be prepared to respond effectively to mass casualties and emergencies.

Requirements

Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Nursing from an accredited academic institution. (preferred)

Experience

  • 3 years of Emergency Department required
  • Prefer experience in a Level 1 Trauma Emergency Department

Licenses

  • California Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for providers issued by the American Heart Association
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification or must be completed within 6 months of hire
